Die Siedlung 'Habitat Marocain' wurde 1954â1956 von den beiden Schweizer Architekten Jean Hentsch (1921â1984) und AndrĂ© Studer (1926â2007) in der marokkanischen Stadt Casablanca gebaut. Als Bestandteil der urbanistischen Erweiterung unter französischer Kolonialverwaltung wurde sie fĂŒr eine einheimische Bewohnerschaft konzipiert. Dies schlug sich in einem kulturspezifischen architektonischen Lösungsansatz nieder.Erstmals beleuchtet dieses Buch das Spannungsfeld zwischen kulturellen Annahmen der Architekten und tatsĂ€chlichen Lebensweisen der Bewohner. Es dokumentiert in Bild und Text die ethnografischen EinflĂŒsse auf die strukturelle Durchbildung der drei GebĂ€ude und zeigt unterschiedliche Transformationen der Anlage durch die Nutzer. Mit dem Vor- und Nachleben der Anlage im Zentrum wird ein komplexer Forschungs-, Entwurfs-, Bau- und Wohnprozess sichtbar gemacht, der bis heute andauert.
