Beschreibung Charlotte Perriand: Complete Works / Complete Works. Volume 2: 1940–1955. Die Innenarchitektin Charlotte Perriand (1903–1999) ist eine Schlüsselfigur der Designgeschichte des 20. Jahrhunderts und schuf als eine der ersten Frauen in der Männerdomäne Architektur Möbel, die heute zu den Klassikern gehören. Der zweite Band dieser dreibändigen Monografie widmet sich den Jahren von 1940 bis 1955. In diese Zeit fallen Perriands ausgedehnte Aufenthalte in Japan (1940–1942), wo ihre Werke 1941 in der Ausstellung 'Selection, Tradition, Creation' ausgestellt waren, und in Indochina (1942–1946). Sie war fasziniert von der japanischen Kultur, die sie auch fotografisch umfangreich dokumentierte.Ein weiterer zentraler Teil des zweiten Bandes ist Perriands Zusammenarbeit mit Jean Prouvé von 1952 bis 1955 gewidmet, der ihr Gelegenheit bot, sich intensiv mit der Massenproduktion von Möbeln zu befassen. Aus der Kooperation mit Prouvé gingen auch einige von Perriands Meisterwerken hervor wie die Bibliotheken der Studentenhäuser Tunesiens und Mexikos in der Cité Internationale Universitaire in Paris. Darüber hinaus dokumentiert das Buch ihre Rolle bei der Gründung der Union des Artistes Modernes 1949.
